Our History
The Romanian community on Vancouver Island has a long-standing presence, with informal gatherings and community-led initiatives bringing people together around shared culture and traditions.
A previous Romanian association was active in the region, helping to strengthen cultural ties and community engagement during its time.
In the years that followed, community members continued to stay connected through informal gatherings and shared cultural events, maintaining the spirit of the organization.
In January 2026, the Vancouver Island Romanian Society was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in British Columbia, based in Victoria. This marks a renewed and structured effort to continue building a strong, active, and welcoming Romanian community on Vancouver Island.
